Meet the Executive Board!

Allyson Tombesi – AAEES President

Allyson, is a senior in the Environmental Engineering undergraduate program at Florida International University. Her expected graduation is Spring 2018. This is her third semester on the executive board of AAEES. She spent her summer interning with the Savannah River Environmental Science Field Station Program, where she learned about monitoring stream and river quality.  After graduating Allyson is interested in pursuing a career in the water sector related to sustainability/resiliency. She is passionate about resource preservation and hopes to make an impact globally throughout her career.

Sarah Solomon – WEF President

Sarah Solomon is an undergraduate senior studying civil and environmental engineering. She expects to graduate in the summer of 2018 and is interested in becoming involved in sustainability efforts after she graduates. She has been a part of the organization since May 2016 and has helped to introduce environmental engineering competitions to students. She enjoys taking out non-native trees from her backyard in her spare time.

Angela Hogan – Vice President

Angela is a junior studying Civil and Environmental Engineering with an interest in structural engineering, sustainable development, water resources, and water quality. She has a passion for helping others and hopes to have her own global organization in the future. She currently has an internship at Gannett Fleming, a civil engineering design firm, where she has worked in transportation, planning, and structures. Along with AAEES and WEF, Angela is dedicated to many student and professional organizations she belongs to, such as Engineers Without Borders and the American Society of Civil Engineers. She is dedicated to the student chapter as well as helping her peers gain engineering and professional experience through this organization.

Jade Bennett – Secretary

Jade, a double major in environmental and civil engineering at Florida International University. Her expected graduation is Summer 2019. After graduation, she is interested in pursuing a career in managing sustainable development projects around the world. This is her first semester on the executive board of AAEES/WEF.

Ximena Lugo – Events Director

Ximena is a junior in the Environmental Engineering undergraduate program at Florida International University. Her expected graduation is Fall 2018. She hopes to pursue a career in bioremediation technology and climate change. This is her first semester on the executive board of AAEES.

Olga Mikhalchishina – Outreach and Recruitment Chair

Olga is a junior in the Environmental Engineering undergraduate program at Florida International University. Her expected graduation is in Fall 2019. Her goal is to help maintain the environment to be safe and sustainable. This is her first semester on the executive board of AAEES.

Rodger Insignares – CSO Representative

Rodger Insignares is currently a Senior at Florida International University Studying Environmental Engineering. Rodger will be graduating at the end of Spring 2018, After he wants to pursue a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering. Rodger wants to pursue a career in water resources and work with non-profit organization in providing clean drinkable water to communities around the world. This is his First semester on the Executive Board for AAEES as CSO Representative and excited to work with the organization to help it grow and be Successful.

P.S. Also, an avid animal lover and enjoys long walks on the beach.

Alexis Suarez – Historian and Web Developer

Alexis Suarez is a junior pursuing Environmental Engineering at FIU. She is interested in the environmental uniquness of South Florida and is enthusiastic about working in the field as an engineer. In addition to her academic focus, Alexis works for FIU Online as a web developer and designer. She is well acquainted with web design and manipulation, and maintains the AAEES organization webpage. She is passionate about gaining skills that will undoubtably be beneficial in the work force. In conclusion, Alexis is passionate about her ability to create a positive impact on the world as an environmental engineer.
